A Story of A Global Neighbor

The global Church is represented right here at Kitsap House. This delights me so! Among our regular 100 or so Sunday morning attenders, there are just as many countries represented in friendship and passion. Thank you for sharing with me the stories of your love for people by name and travels to Korea, Morocco, Tunisia, Jerusalem, and so many more. You expand my imagination and my prayer life on a daily basis.

I want to bring you some of that imagination and joy today! Jayme and Dave are committed to this community at Kitsap House, and they’re also committed to a particular community in Romania called “The Camp of the Good Shepherd.” Jayme’s been traveling there every summer for several years, and this year they’ll make the trip together for the first time.

Please join us in prayer and in joy as you look at these pictures. They leave June 18th after the service. In the meantime, Jayme as the group leader, is especially requesting prayer for:

  • Any last minute teammates to jump in!

  • Preparation for the individual needs of kids at the camp.

  • Financial provision, especially for missed work

And if you want to lend in a hand, here are some creative ways!

  • Write 10 handwritten notes on index cards that will be included in the kids’ hygiene kits. Things like, “You are God’s child. 1 John 4:19” Hand them to Jayme before June 11th.

  • Slip a $20 to Jayme or Dave to pay for icecream during a camp afternoon.

If you want to connect with Jayme directly, you can email her at jaymejones@live.com.

Top: one of our favorite group photos. These are the children of Fagaras placement center all considered special needs.

Bottom left: two brothers who are nonverbal and were found prostituting on the streets of Hungary then brought back to Romanian orphanage (they can say "mama" - this is the posture they took if they did something naughty, and were about to be caught, they would run to one of us.)

Bottom right: a young man, holding a picture, he ran away from his placement center. He is fascinated by construction type of vehicles and work. So he stopped when he got to a big construction site, hung out for a couple of days and then the workers were able to get him back to his placement center.

Let us pray together now: Father in heaven, you are God over all. You see and name every person on earth. We are in awe when we imagine everyone we meet showing us something new of who you are. Reawaken our love, Father, for our neighbors, for every face we will see today. Allow us to interact with prayer and joy when we see you in them. Remind us that the vision of life forever is that we will be united in Christ with people from every nation and tribe and people. And let us find JOY in that unity in this life, that we might have a little taste of the joy that is to come. Amen.

P.S. Our son told me they were invited to share about countries they know of during a recent Sunday morning. Apparently ours thinks California is a country. Well… ;)

Our kids are particularly having a great time with the feasts. Let me encourage you – don’t miss June 4th! We’ve asked the kids, “What makes a great party?” And I’ve asked Maddy to fulfill their party hopes even to those that are “just outside of reason” for our final Jubilee celebration.
