Mitchell Update
Sharing about the Mitchell Project the last three weeks unearthed an incredible gift mix in our community! Thank you for lending your enthusiasm, prayers, and life-honed skills to this particular work of shalom God is calling us to. Over the last three week’s I’ve learned that in our church are:
A retired man really called to prayer for Mitchell
A dad on a board for a grant trust that loves community projects
A lawyer with a friend who specializes in land use law in Kitsap County
A woman who used to flip houses with her dad
And really, the bullet points could keep growing. I wonder who you would add that you’ve met in the last few weeks and what gifts God has uniquely given them?
That’s the wonder of a project like this. It gives you a moment's glimpse into just how much God is truly in control and the incredible way he builds us up together. As the children sing, “He has the whole world in his hands.” May hearing about this project build up your trust in God’s love for you and his power over sin, chaos and brokenness.
So a quick update – we’re going to keep working on these three areas of feasibility through this fall and into the spring (construction, financial, partnership).
The ultimate goal is to purchase and restore 1153 Mitchell Ave. as a place of shalom for our neighbors. We intend for the building to stand as a living parable of God’s work of peace, justice, wholeness in our lives and in our community. May God enable us to bring new life to an old building and allow people to walk into hope restored.
Here are the next ways to jump in –
Listen to the Podcast to hear the ways God’s been speaking to us about the project. Includes 3 testimonies from Kirsten, Rod and Charlie.
Keep driving by on purpose and praying for God’s fulfillment in these areas: construction, financial, and partnership. We’ll be organizing a prayer walk to canvas the neighborhood in prayer in November.
Get your order in for the neighborhood sweatshirts. This is a fundraiser supporting the initial costs of studying this property. Last date to order is October 27.
Let us know if you have a skill set you want to offer to the team! Connect with Bert about joining concerted prayer efforts, Rod or Bert about the building construction, Megan about financial gifts and community connections.
It’s such a joy to celebrate with you all the ways God is building us together – people, buildings, community. May we be quick to turn and give him glory. He is so good!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
