Feeling less anxious I hope?
Revelation gives us eternal images of security in times of anxiety. The early church knew all kinds of highs and lows - the direct presence of the Holy Spirit for the first time and persecution under Roman emperors. We know the relative prosperity of life in America and division in politics and families. It’s a mixed bag, Amen?!
God gives us the vision of life when it’s all sorted. And that life is a good one. An abundant one. Life as a city, a temple and a garden. A place we want to live in!
So often pop culture has given us a picture of heaven as a floating, ethereal, cloud-like place. God’s pictures for us are concrete, grounded, and full of beauty and people. Quite like today, in all the best parts of our “mixed bag” life. God introduces us to “a new heavens and a new earth,” in Revelation 21 and 22.
We believe that imagining this renewed earth for ourselves gives us deep security in times of anxiety. We are loved, whole, and unified when we do life with Jesus. We are rooted and grounded, not shifting and fearful. That’s not just a forever hope, it’s a hope for right now. Eternity is already happening.
We could all use some hope. Eternal life is available to us right now!
“Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe”. - Hebrews 12:28
So if you haven’t been with us on Sundays, I invite you to catch up your imagination to where we are!
HERE is a video we watched a couple weeks ago from the Bible Project.
HERE are our podcasts!
HERE is our new favorite worship song.
And Sunday’s not the only time we get together! We are a church for our neighbors. So don’t miss out on all the opportunities to grab a friend and hang out in the neighborhood together. Just last week we were at Yoked Brewery on Tuesday and Point Defiance on Thursday.
