Need for GLORY!!!!

Welcome to summer and all the celebrations that come with it! We’re stepping into a new sermon series Sunday and fireworks seem so appropriate. (I bet there will still be neighbors setting them off Sunday, ha!) Jesus opens John 17 praying for glory, and I feel like that word is most appropriately written as GLORY!!!!!! And if only I could get your email to cascade with fireworks when you open it like you can on a celebratory text, I would! Because it’s AMAZING!

Jesus prays for YOU! For me! Jesus asks the Father to glorify him.

I can hear some of my friends who are frustrated right now with God or the church or both saying – that seems so narcissistic. But keep reading, and you’ll get to your part in that prayer. Jesus wants to share his glory with you and with me.

I think you’re going to find by the end of Jesus’ prayer that all your deepest needs and desires are covered by his prayer. He is praying for you. And that’s a cause for firework-filled celebration and also deep, deep security.

So everytime you hear a firework this week, maybe hear it with a joyful: “He’s praying for us!” And I hope you’ll join us Sunday for a service that will be every bit as much a celebration as a deep, re-anchoring in our unchanging God.

NOTE! We’re going to meet outside! We don’t want to miss a moment of the PNW in all its glory, so we’ll be meeting outside for the month of July – right outside the front doors of Cedar Heights Middle School. Feel free to bring a hat and/or a cushion for the built in seating there or your own camping chair if that’s more comfortable, but we’ll have our chairs set up, too. And for sure, bring your most childlike self. Jesus prays to the Father on our behalf, and we’re going to be leaning in with some childlike prayer practices ourselves. Enjoy the shake up with us!
